Manjaro Linux 24.0 “Wynsdey” Officially Released with Linux Kernel 6.9

The Arch Linux-based Manjaro Linux 24.0 distribution has officially launched today, marking a significant update with the inclusion of the latest GNU/Linux technologies and open-source software.

Named “Wynsdey,” Manjaro Linux 24.0 is notable for being the first GNU/Linux distribution to run on Linux kernel 6.9, released just this past weekend. The Manjaro Linux team has managed to achieve this impressive feat, setting a high standard for other distribution maintainers.

Manjaro Linux 24.0’s flagship edition comes with the Xfce desktop environment, while the other two official flavors feature the updated KDE Plasma 6 and GNOME 46 desktop environments.

Other significant updates in this release include improved download processes for build scripts from the Arch User Repository (AUR) and the official Manjaro Linux binary repositories, now featuring the latest Pamac package manager. There is also support for LTS (Long Term Support) kernels, such as Linux 6.6 LTS and Linux 6.1 LTS, ensuring compatibility with older hardware.

Additionally, most core components and default applications have been updated to their latest versions. The KDE Plasma edition, in particular, boasts the KDE Gear 24.02 and KDE Frameworks 6.1 software suites. For more detailed information, refer to the release announcement page.

Manjaro Linux 24.0 is available for download from the official website as live ISO images with Xfce, KDE Plasma, and GNOME desktop environments. Each edition is available in both Full and Minimal images, supporting Linux 6.9, Linux 6.6 LTS, and Linux 6.1 LTS kernels.

Users currently running Manjaro Linux 23.1 “Vulcan” can upgrade their systems by executing the following command in a terminal emulator or using the default graphical package manager: sudo pacman -Syu
